Contact card readers that comply with the USB Chip/Smart Card Interface Devices specification are supported. They contain a slot or swipe into which the user inserts the smart card.

Applications require that a user have the smart card or smart card reader being demonstrated. While looking among available drivers in windows, I found Ricoh Secure Digital host controller R5C841 driver which I installed. Now SD card reader seems to work, but won’t read SDHC cards. Smart cards can be electronic key rings, giving the bearer ability to access information and physical places without need for online connections.

They are encryption devices, so that the user can encrypt and decrypt information without relying on unknown, and therefore potentially untrustworthy, appliances such as ATMs. Smart cards are very flexible in providing authentication at different level of the bearer and the counterpart.

Nevertheless when the installation of both the eID Software and the drivers has been successfully finished, you will be able to use your card reader on dedicated applications and websites. In order to be able to use our card readers, you first have to install 2 things, being the eID Software of the government and the drivers of the card reader. The name will of course differ based on the hardware i.e. card reader installed on your system. If you need to update, rollback, uninstall, or install a driver, this device is what you need to modify.

Get A Card Reader

Do not connect the desktop USB card reader to your computer until you have installed all the required drivers and programs. Find web applications that enable users to experience the functionalities of ACS smart cards and smart card readers.

For WWAN connectivity cards, either mini-PCIe slots or USB connected variants have become the preferred connection methods. Smart cards have also been the targets of security attacks. These attacks range from physical invasion of the card’s electronics, to non-invasive attacks that exploit weaknesses in the card’s software or hardware.

Turkey implemented the first smart card driver’s license system in 1987. Turkey had a high level of road accidents and decided to develop and use digital tachograph devices on heavy vehicles, instead of the existing mechanical ones, to reduce speed violations. Since 1987, the professional driver’s licenses in Turkey have been issued as smart cards. A professional driver is required to insert his driver’s license into a digital tachograph before starting to drive. The tachograph unit records speed violations for each driver and gives a printed report.

Smart cards have multiple functions which simultaneously can be an ID, a credit card, a stored-value cash card, and a repository of personal information such as telephone numbers or medical history. The card can be easily replaced if lost, and, the requirement for a PIN provides additional security from unauthorised access to information by others.

In the log listbox of the application, you’ll see the APDUs sent to the card. In order for your card reader to function properly, you need to have special software installed, the so-called driver. The installation may require administrator privileges if you are working on a ‘company’ computer, contact your IT department and ask them to install the driver and program for you. If you have a remote desktop connection (e.g. Citrix), you must logout and download and run the drivers and program on your local desktop only.

The device driver is often supplied as part of a smart card middleware package available from a Citrix partner; the smart card middleware package will offer advanced features. The device driver may also be described as a Cryptographic Service Provider HP deskjet 3050 driver, Key Storage Provider , or minidriver.
